One of the new products at MAATS is the new palm fuel pump primer. The P3 won its division in the propulsion category beating out the ” Torqeedo electric outboard” .

The flexible squeeze bulb has been around for decades as the fuel primer for outboards. However, those days may be over. The EPA tells us that the rubber squeeze ball is porous and a pollutant and have new regulations coming in 2011.

Judge Alan Wendt said, “It’s the first fuel primer that will satisfy the 2011 EPA mandate for low permeation.”

The P3 (palm pump fuel primer) is an ergonomically designed, hand held, light weight, durable, high performance piston pump, which delivers a precise amount of fuel with each simple stroke. Manufactured using cost effective, low permeation materials, the P3, in independent testing achieved fuel hydrocarbon emission rates of < 3 g/m²/day, rates significantly below the 15 g/m²/day mandated by Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resource Board standards. Additionally the P3 continues to perform at peak efficiency in temperatures of -6º Celsius.
